MedBos™ is a service of XBoson, Inc. ("MedBos," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have — including how we handle Medicare claims information that you choose to share with us through the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Blue Button 2.0 program.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to individuals who use MedBos, including Medicare beneficiaries who connect their Medicare account to MedBos, and to authorized users at the health plans and organizations that use the MedBos platform. It applies to our websites, applications, and services that link to this policy (collectively, the "Services").

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — such as your name, email address, and organization, used to create and secure your account.
  • Communications — information you provide when you contact support or correspond with us.

Information from connected sources

  • Medicare claims data that you authorize us to retrieve through CMS Blue Button 2.0 (see Section 3).
  • Health plan data that a plan or covered entity provides to us under a written agreement to deliver the Services.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data — such as log data, IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, used to operate, secure, and improve the Services.
  • Cookies — we use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect the Services. We do not use them to build advertising profiles.

3. Medicare data via CMS Blue Button 2.0

If you are a Medicare beneficiary and choose to connect your Medicare account, MedBos uses the CMS Blue Button 2.0 API to retrieve your Medicare claims information only after you sign in to your own Medicare account and grant consent through CMS. We never see or store your Medicare login credentials — authentication and consent happen on CMS's own systems.

With your authorization, we may receive:

  • Part A, Part B, and Part D claims (Explanation of Benefit resources) — including services, procedures, prescriptions filled, dates, providers, and amounts.
  • Coverage information — your Medicare enrollment and plan coverage.
  • Demographic information — such as name, address, date of birth, and sex, where you have granted the demographic scope, used to verify that the connected account matches your MedBos member record.
Access is granted per beneficiary and only with your explicit consent. It is not a bulk data feed. You can withdraw your consent at any time — see Section 6.

4. How we use information

  • To provide the Services — including verifying your identity, assembling your medication and care history, and generating personalized medication, safety, and cost insights.
  • To secure the Services, prevent fraud and abuse, and maintain audit logs.
  • To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Services.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your Medicare claims data for advertising or marketing.

5. How we share information

We share information only as described here:

  • With your health plan or provider organization, where that organization is authorized to receive it to deliver care management or coverage services to you.
  • With service providers who process data on our behalf under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only for us (for example, cloud hosting).
  • For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the public.
  • In a business transfer, subject to this policy, if MedBos is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We do not share your Medicare claims data with third parties for their own marketing.

6. Your consent and how to revoke it

Connecting your Medicare account is voluntary. You may revoke MedBos's access to your Blue Button 2.0 data at any time by:

  • disconnecting MedBos from within your Medicare account at Medicare.gov, or
  • contacting us at [email protected] to disconnect and request deletion.

Revoking consent stops future retrieval of your Medicare data. It does not affect processing that already occurred, and we will delete previously retrieved data as described in Section 8 unless we are required to retain it.

7. How we protect information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, least-privilege access, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information consistent with applicable law and industry practice.

8. Data retention and deletion

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes. When you disconnect your Medicare account or close your account, we delete or de-identify the associated Medicare claims data within a commercially reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or by a contract with your health plan.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond consistent with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

10. HIPAA and health information

When MedBos processes protected health information on behalf of a health plan or other covered entity, we act as a Business Associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and handle that information in accordance with our Business Associate Agreement and applicable law. Medicare data you share directly with MedBos through Blue Button 2.0 is handled as described in this policy and under your authorization.

11. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
